30 years of Leipzig Pride – Respect for all

July 8 – 16, 2022

Surely your anticipation for this year’s Pride is already huge. We can tell you: we feel the same way! After two years with restrictions, we are looking forward to a CSD that will hopefully be bigger than anything Leipzig has seen before. With rally, demonstration, street festival and a full week of events!

The preparations are currently in full swing, because there is something to celebrate! The Leipzig Pride turns 30 and we want to celebrate that with you, with everyone from near and far. In June 1992, a small group of queer people drew attention to their concerns at the Moritzbastei. This year we’re rocking Augustusplatz right next door and standing up loud and colorful for equal rights, tolerance and humanity! True to our motto this year: 30 years of CSD Leipzig – respect for everyone

It was important to us that this year – in addition to the anniversary – we were again given a motto and a focus on content, which you can read about under the following link: Motto and focus (German version)

All of our demands can be found under the following link: Demands

This year we are celebrating 30 years of Pride in Leipzig and that is why we are supported by three ambassadors who are committed to the queer community in very different ways and reflect the diversity of our community.

Peter Thürer

As a “veteran” and co-founder of the Leipzig Pride movement, we were able to win Peter Thürer as an ambassador, which we are particularly pleased about on the occasion of our anniversary! He has always campaigned against exclusion and discrimination – also within the queer community.

As a feminist and environmental activist, Katharina Oguntoye has been fighting tirelessly for equal opportunities and generational justice for many years, with a particular focus on the rights of queer people.

As an activist and filmmaker, Fabian Grischkat does important educational work in social media and on the stages of our country, especially for his young audience, in relation to queer ways of life and love.

Our ambassadors will be present at Augustusplatz for the demonstration on July 16, 2022 and will also appear as part of the event week. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your commitment to the Leipzig Pride!

The starting signal for this year’s Pride week falls on July 8, 2022 at 4 p.m. with the raising of the rainbow flag in front of the Neues Rathaus and the subsequent reception by the city of Leipzig.

The highlight, this year’s demonstration, starts on July 16, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. with a rally on Augustusplatz. Afterwards we will demonstrate from around 1:00 p.m. on the inner city ring. The demo finally ends around 3:30 p.m. again on Augustusplatz in the big street festival with stage program.

We will provide further information about the demo route here in due course.

Of course, a diverse week of events will take place again this year in the run-up to the Pride. Numerous Leipzig clubs, organisations and institutions have put together a colourful program that has something to offer for everyone. You can find all the events in our interactive events calendar.

We need you!
